Always wanted to join a singing competition even though your skills are dubious at best? Well, there’s room for all levels of singing skills in Mediacorp’s new variety show, an adaptation of popular South Korean mystery music game show, I Can See Your Voice, which will premiere in Singapore in January 2025.
Auditions are now open for mystery singers for the variety programme, which sees a mixed group of both good and bad singers performing to either prove they’re good singers or mask the fact that they’re bad.
Celebrity contestants must then decide if a mystery singer is truly good or just good at pretending – and systematically eliminate the bad singers across multiple rounds.
The aim is to retain a good singer as the last person standing, and this person will win a grand cash prize regardless of singing ability.
While that’s going on, a panel of celebrity detectives will also offer commentaries that may either help or mislead the contestants’ decisions.
If you would like to be a mystery singer on the show – and you’re aged 18 and above – you can apply by submitting a one-minute video clip featuring a brief self-introduction and performance of your favourite song without a backing track via mediacorp.sg/icanseeyourvoice by Aug 31.
Remember, you can either be a really good singer or just have enough stage presence to fool everyone into thinking you are.
Said Mediacorp’s chief content officer, Virginia Lim: “We are thrilled to present the first local adaptation of the highly successful I Can See Your Voice and are set to bring our audiences through weeks of family-friendly, dynamic entertainment.
“Beyond the excitement and suspense that comes with game shows, fans can also look forward to the unique showcase of raw performing talent beyond conventional singing abilities. And to those who feel you have what it takes to be a mystery singer, join our auditions today!”
I Can See Your Voice is a format by Korea-based entertainment company CJ ENM and is available in more than 30 countries. The Singapore edition will premiere in January 2025.
