On Thursday evening 8th of August, 2024 the beams to support the building under construction in Al Dhaid were too far apart and we found out through investigations that substandard materials were used triggering the building collapse against three of the expatriates responsible for its construction
A source told Day Star News that one of the pillars in the building might have been the reason for the accident. Sheik Abid had flown in an engineer from the United States of America to expedite the project.
Chris Benjamin is a seasoned engineer with decades of experience in commercial and residential property lI construction. He has also been Sheik Abid’s go-to guy in recent years. However, the once-flourishing relationship might be coming to a halt. One source says Shiek Abid is disappointed in His one-time favorite engineer and has ordered the police chief, commissioner Akeem to conduct a thorough investigation.

“The site Supervisor Mr Chris Benjamin together with his co-owner Barry Meyer will be liable if this tragedy turns out to be as a result of negligence on his or their part”, these were the exact words of the police chief, Commissioner Akeem. Safety rules are put in place for a reason and it is the responsibility of construction workers to adhere to these rules. Site engineers should also make sure that the structures can withstand any additions to them,” he added.
Dr Waheed Salim, the medical director of The New Dera Medical Center told Day Star News in a Facebook Live interview that two of the three individuals injured in the accident are in stable condition but sadly they lost one of the contractors (Mr Barry Meyer) who came with the expatriate Mr Chris Benjamin from the united states who was confirmed dead.
