Just before midnight on Sunday evening, the terror organization Hezbollah fired several rocket barrages at Israel that caused significantly more damage than its attacks in recent weeks.
A 22-year-old man was seriously wounded by shrapnel when a rocket slammed into a street in central Tiberias minutes before midnight. The rocket was part of a volley of around seven rockets that was not intercepted in time.
Shortly before the incident, seven people were lightly wounded in the northern city of Haifa when about five rockets penetrated air defenses and slammed into the city center. Another person suffered from shock and was also treated at a hospital.
Most injuries were caused when one projectile, which Hezbollah claimed to be a Falak-type rocket, exploded in a city square and sprayed surrounding buildings with shrapnel.
The IDF said it was investigating why the rockets were not intercepted by Iron Dome.
“This is the first real hit in the city, and I hope it will be the last,” Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav told Ynet News.
“There is destruction here that requires repair. Now the engineers are checking it. At the end of the inspection, the municipality will come in and take care of this place. Thank God, there are only seven wounded and relatively lightly wounded, in three separate sites. And I hope this is the last event of its kind in this city.”

Haifa resident Anat Mosley said she suffered a head injury while running to a shelter.
“I was already in bed, on my way to sleep, I jumped up and managed to put on shoes and a shirt and then I fell. I think I was thrown by the shockwave, the glass around me shattered even though there is another house between my apartment and the place of the fall.”
Eli Twizner told Ynet that his elderly mother was wounded by shrapnel.
“My mother is 79, and she was very frightened. All the glass in the house was shattered and so was the television. My mother was hysterical. The glass railings of the balcony were shattered. The sights tonight remind us all of what happened in Haifa during the Second Lebanon War in 2006,” he said.
Later on Sunday night, the IDF said it shot down two drones over the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Rishon Letzion, which it said were “launched from the east,” presumably meaning by Iran-backed militias in Iraq or Yemen.

On Tuesday, Hezbollah continued attacking Israel and fired a 20-rocket volley at the area of Kfar Vradim, which caused some damage but no casualties. One rocket exploded in the backyard of a house, while another rocket fell in a parking lot and damaged numerous cars.
Meanwhile, Israel Defense Forces announced that its ground offensive in southern Lebanon would be expanded, with a third division joining the operation.

Three reserve brigades of the 91st Division joined forces from the 98th and 36th Divisions already fighting Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“After fighting for almost a year in the northern sector and the Gaza Strip, in the last two weeks the reserve fighters were re-mobilized, carried out a battle procedure, trained and raised their readiness,” the IDF stated.
Additionally, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) continued its intense air campaign against Hezbollah targets across Lebanon and Beirut’s Dahiyeh district in particular.

Early on Monday morning, the IDF said it struck targets of Hezbollah’s intelligence branch, including headquarters and weapons storage facilities.
“During the attacks, secondary explosions were seen that indicate the presence of weapons. The terrorist organization Hezbollah places its headquarters and means of warfare under residential buildings in the heart of the city of Beirut and endangers the population in the area,” the IDF stated.
Additional strikes targeted the Bekaa Valley in northern Lebanon, hitting munitions warehouses, command-and-control facilities, and rocket launchers.
