Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been named to head a department of government efficiency.
Elon Musk has said at least $2 trillions per year could be removed from the $6.5 trillion annual federal government budget.
Vivek has described how to remake the federal government. Elon eliminated 80% of the staff of Twitter and made the company more innovative and productive. Elon has made real time enterprise systems for running his companies and making his employees more productive. Could it be possible to eliminate 75% of the 3 million employees of the federal government and make the government more responsive and productive? Staff could be reduced to about 700,000 people.
If 75% were eliminated and the remaining positions had higher (double?) salaries for more productive employees, then the government would get closer to the private sector or Singapore government model. New IT systems could be created for a truly realtime and fast response and high functioning government.
Singapore’s approach to governance, particularly the policy of high salaries for its public officials, is often cited as a model for both reducing corruption and enhancing productivity. Here’s how this strategy reportedly contributes to these outcomes:
Reducing Corruption:
1. Deterrence Through High Wages
2. Attracting Integrity
3. Cultural Norms. Corruption is not acceptable.
Enhancing Productivity:
1. Talent Attraction through higher salaries
2. Performance-Based Pay
3. Robust accountability processes.
Vivek spoke with Tucker Carlson and about 35 minutes into the talk he explained how to reduce federal government staff by 75%.
1. All staff must physically go to the office for all office hours.
2. They will use the supreme court overturning the Chevron deference to eliminate 75% of government rules. This would be followed by eliminating 75% of the staff who then not be be needed.
Vivek on Tucker.

Chevron Deference:
The Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc. decision, commonly known as the Chevron deference, was established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1984. This doctrine dictates that when a legislative delegation to an administrative agency on a particular issue is ambiguous or unclear, courts should defer to the agency’s interpretation of the statute if it is reasonable. This ruling significantly expanded the power of administrative agencies to interpret the laws they enforce, essentially giving them considerable leeway in regulatory practices.
Vivek Ramaswamy’s Proposal:
Vivek Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, has expressed intentions to utilize the overturning of the Chevron doctrine by the Supreme Court to drastically reduce the size of the federal government. Here’s how he outlines his approach:
Overturning Chevron Deference limits agency powers.
West Virginia v. EPA: Limited the EPA’s ability to regulate carbon dioxide emissions without clear congressional authorization, showcasing judicial skepticism towards broad agency powers.
Reduction in Federal Workforce:
Ramaswamy has proposed reducing the federal workforce by 75%. His plan includes:
Eliminating Agencies: He targets agencies like the FBI, Department of Education, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and others for dissolution or significant downsizing, arguing that their functions could be absorbed by other departments or are unnecessary.
Legal Justification: By arguing that many regulations and agency actions were predicated on the now-questioned Chevron deference, Ramaswamy believes this legal change could allow for the executive to dismantle parts of the administrative state without needing new legislation.
Implementation:
Ramaswamy claims Article II of the Constitution give the President power to reorganize the executive branch significantly.
He anticipates legal challenges but expresses confidence that the current Supreme Court, with its conservative majority, would uphold his actions under a strict interpretation of constitutional powers.
Elon Musk and Tesla Have Hyperefficient Systems
Joe Justice worked at Tesla and he describes how Tesla can fully design and certify a new car in just one hour versus a year for other car companies.
Tesla and all of Elon Musk companies have apps and systems accessed via cellphones that provide all the information employees need to know to understand the impact of changes they make. If they eliminate a 25 cent part then they know that it will save the company $502,635. These are like realtime versions of SAP enterprise software.
