It’s never easy to be on the losing side in the World Series. And for Yankees manager Aaron Boone, it couldn’t have been fun to lose in commanding fashion and then listen to Dodgers players discuss the series after the fact.
Still, did the Dodgers really cross a line? That’s debatable, but Boone hoped that his players would handle a potential World Series win with more “class.”
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the Yankees manager was asked about some of the remarks Dodgers players had made in the past few months. Joe Kelly and Chris Taylor, in particular, mocked the Yankees’ base running in a podcast appearance with Mookie Betts.
That’s where Boone brought up winning with class.
Aaron Boone on if he took the Dodgers’ trash talking after winning the World Series personally:

Boone said:
“Don’t like hearing that. But the reality is we didn’t play our best in the series and they won, so they had that right to say whatever. Hopefully, we’re in that position next year and handle things with a little more class. But the reality is it’s a great team, it’s a great organization with a lot of great people that I happen to know and respect, too. So a few people sounding off isn’t necessarily how I would want to draw it up. But they’re the champs — they have that right.”
But to be fair to the Dodgers, the Yankees did have dreadful base running in the series. It’s not classless to point that out. Plus, the Dodgers didn’t do anything in the actual series that would be perceived as poor form. That designation, though, belonged to a couple Yankees fans.
Look at those guys before talking about class.
